Payment Plans

Payment Plans: Our membership plans are per person on a monthly subscription basis. Renewal is by monthly or annual subscription at discounted rates with agreement to our studio rules and practices upon registration. Memberships are offered with monthly payment or one-time annual payment options. The one-time annual pay option has the best savings with a discounted rate. Monthly plans are on a month-to-month basis and may be cancelled anytime. However, you must be an active member to retain your discounts, studio access, and dedicated storage space. In some cases, during checkout, you may be able to select a payment plan if you qualify for financing. Membership Fees are non-refundable and not transferable. *** PLEASE NOTE: Memberships and payments begin as of the 1st of each month and do not get pro-rated for later registrations. (You will need to use your benefits and time within the hours included for the current month.)

How do I Book my Studio Time?

When you sign up for one of our membership plans you will receive a confirmation e-mail. There will be a “magic link” to use to sign in to see your package of studio time or visits. You may also login to your Customer Account Portal on our website to see your available time.

To book studio time you will either click on the link provided in the email or from your customer account and select your day and time needed. The Open Studio Time schedule for the Pottery Studio is dependent on our availability between classes and parties. If the studio is available, you will see an open timeslot and book your time in one hour increments. We will apply this towards your monthly allotment of time in your plan. If you need more than one hour at a time, you will just make bookings for each timeslot you need for each day. If you need additional time over and above what is included in your plan, you may choose to pay for the additional time out of pocket at $10 per hour as needed in-studio. (Subject to availability.)

*** If you do not see the timeslot available online for your needs, you may call us at 610-674-1011 on the same day to see if there is a wheel available. ***

For Creation Station, you may book time on the Creation Station schedule to reserve your seats at a table which will count towards one visit. Typically, you may spend 2-3 hours in one visit and paint up to 3 small pieces during your visit.

***PLEASE NOTE: Unused Pottery Open Studio Time Hours and Creation Station Visits do not roll-over to the next month. The amounts renew each month.

Can I bring a Guest?

All of our membership plans include only ONE Member per plan. However, some plans do include some guest allowances. A member must be present with any guests at time of visit to redeem their free studio pass allowance. This only pertains to Creation Station plans as we do not allow guests in the Pottery Studio.

What kind of Studio Clay and Glaze do you offer?
  • Types of Clay: We currently use a low-fire standard white earthenware clay in our studio. It is a light and smooth clay body with good plasticity. Clay is not included in our membership plans since we do not know how much each member will need. We have studio clay available for purchase by the pound in-house as needed. If you prefer a clay with grog or a midfire variety, we can special order other clays (up to cone 6) upon request. Our Standard white earthenware studio clay is $1 per lb. as needed. Other clays are by quote as needed. Members get 10% off clay and supplies.
  • Glaze: We mainly use Mayco Brand in our studio and have 4 types of low-fire glazes to choose from. More brands and varieties (up to cone 6) available upon request. Glaze is included in monthly plans for typical size and use. For larger pieces or intricate detail work, additional Studio Glaze is available at $2.00/oz as needed.
  • Any Special Order Clay or Supplies must be pre-paid.
How do you handle Kiln Firings?

Firings: We only fire our own studio clay or approved clay and glazes in our kiln. We have an electric Skutt Brand Kiln which is about 17x17 inch inner capacity. All loading, firing, and unloading of kilns are managed by our staff.

We bisque fire to cone 04 and glaze fire to cone 06 unless a special request has been made for a mid-fire up to Cone 6.  Kiln firings are done by shared shelf capacity or dedicated full kiln load.

Creation Station firings are included for ceramics. For the Pottery Studio, some firing is included in each plan. Additional firings range from $15 to $75 per firing as needed upon request.

We run on a 2 week turn around time schedule for firings based on drying time of clay and ensuring all moisture is out of bone dry pieces for bisque.

Do you provide any storage space?

Yes! Our Pottery Studio is equipped with storage shelving. Each member gets one standard shelf (30Lx12Wx9.5H) included with their plan to store their work and materials. In addition, each member also gets a damp box to store work in progress on their shelf as needed. We do have some top shelf space available for taller pieces.

Anything made during studio time must follow our workflow process of shelf space, drying time, kiln firing, and pick-up schedule. You maintain your own shelf with supplies and clay reclaim to keep it tidy and functional. Due to limited space we cannot allow more than one shelf per member. Please keep work in progress moving as much as possible to ensure you have enough room for your pieces and materials.

Creation Station work is fired according to our firing schedule upon completion of pieces. If you need to paint your ceramic in more than one visit we will gladly hold the piece for you up to 30 days to come and finish during another visit session.

What are the Pottery Studio Rules?

The Pottery Studio Rules:

  • STUDIO TIME: Due to limited space a reservation is required for use of the pottery studio during open studio hours only. These hours can vary and are in between our classes and parties. The schedule to reserve is available online. (You may call ahead to see if we have any availability on the same day.) Walk-ins are subject to availability.
  • STORAGE: Anything made during studio time must follow our workflow process of shelf space, drying time, kiln firing, and pick-up schedule. You maintain your own shelf with supplies and clay reclaim to keep it tidy and functional. Due to limited space we cannot allow more than one shelf per member. Please keep work in progress moving as much as possible to ensure you have enough room for your pieces and materials.
  • WORK IN PROGRESS: All work must be marked with your name, initials, and date to be fired. Any pieces that do not have a “maker’s mark” on the bottom for identification will NOT be fired and will be moved to the “Unknown” shelf. This shelf is maintained monthly and if pieces are not claimed or identified, they will go in the reclaimed clay bucket.
  • PICK-UP: Finished pieces must be picked up monthly. Please check the pick-up shelves for your completed work. If you are no longer an active member, any greenware pieces left over 30 days are subject to our no hold policy and will be reclaimed in clay unless otherwise arranged. If pieces have been fired, we are not responsible for any bisqueware or glazed items abandoned over 30 days from membership expiration. They will become the property of SmARTivities and be adopted or donated to charity.
  • CLAY/GLAZE: No outside clay or glazes are permitted without prior approval from management. This prevents damage to our equipment and kiln. We have tested our clay and glaze to ensure the best possible outcomes for our studio.
  • KILN DAMAGE: Any damage to a kiln shelf as a result of over glazing will incur a fine depending on how much damage up to and including the cost of a new kiln shelf (Approx. $30-$70 each)
  • POTTERY DAMAGE: Any damage to another member’s work due to your piece exploding in the kiln as a result of moisture or improper ventilation will result in possible tears from another member and probably some staff members too, so, please allow enough time for your pieces to dry and ventilate them to prevent disasters! We do our best to only fire bone dry pieces to ensure everyone's work has the best chance to succeed.
  • COMMUNITY SPACE: All members must maintain a community mindset and think of their fellow potters during studio time. Please wear headphones if you prefer your own music so as not to disrupt the relaxing atmosphere. We are here to support one another and provide a calm and inspirational environment for creativity to grow!
  • FOOD/DRINKS/PERSONAL ITEMS: We encourage you to bring a bottle of water with you for hydration during your studio time, but alcoholic beverages are not permitted. Small snacks are allowed and may be kept in the community cubbies during your visit with your other belongings.
  • TOOLS/MATERIALS: Use of our studio tools and materials are included in each plan. Please use carefully and put them back in their proper place when not in use. Members may bring in their own tools and supplies to use during their studio time and store them on their own shelf. We are not responsible for any lost or possibly stolen items.
  • CLEANLINESS: We keep our studio as clean as possible to keep dust and debris accumulation to a minimum. Please follow our cleaning guidelines to ensure the wheels, equipment, tables, and tools stay clean. You are responsible to clean your own wheel, table surface, and tools used at each visit. Consider your fellow potter when working to keep messes and spills at a minimum. We appreciate you sharing time with us and help keeping the studio a relaxing and inviting place for everyone.
